He was born on April 8, 1980, and is 43 years old in 2023. He has worked with numerous media outlets in Nigeria, including radio stations, and is one of the most in-demand public speakers and television hosts in Nigeria and across Africa, earning him the title of celebrity journalist. He has previously spoken at TED conferences at Cambridge University's Judge Business School.

Rufai Oseni hails from Odogbolu, a Local Government Area in Ogun State, a state in Nigeria's south-west. He was born in Lagos and was reared there by his biological parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oseni. Growing up, he lost his mother, while his father survived until 2022.
Oseni is of Yoruba heritage by tribe and spent some of his life in his native state before moving to other parts of the country due to the nature of his job.
Oseni Rufai attended a federal government college in high school before moving on to the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, where he studied animal physiology/reproductive physiology and earned a BSC (Hons) in the field. Rufai has been a journalist for more than 18 years and counting. His career began as a broadcaster, and he has worked for several radio stations, including J.fm radio Warri, unique FM Ilesa, gold FM radio Ilsea, Ogun State Radio as a presenter, the Osun State Government, and Inspiration FM.
He has also worked for numerous Nigerian television channels and is a BBC Bristol Analyst on African Issues since 2014. In 2017, he served as a TV continental analyst on small business and the economy, and in 2021, he will facilitate the Nigerian Bar Association conference.
He co-founded a loyal bonus e-commerce company, as well as Edupear Education and Innovation Learning. Rufai has been a guest lecturer at prestigious Ivy League institutions such as Cambridge University and the University of Sussex, among others. Rufai is a toastmaster par excellence. He has moderated panel meetings for various ministries in Nigeria and Mauritius.
He is an enthusiastic teacher who has taught English at the National Open University of Nigeria's numerous study centres. He maintains a network of over 5000 Nigerian students who he advises at Nigerian colleges.

Controversy
When Rufai drove on the designated lane for bus rapid transit (BRT) in 2022, he broke the rules of the road and got into a brawl with the Nigerian police. As shown in a widely shared video, the Lagos State administration promised to discipline the journalist and see to it that he received his penalty during this incident.
The state administration claims that they would see to it that Oseni receives the appropriate punishment for violating the BRT guidelines.
